Grinding Guide

How do I match grinder tooling to surface condition?

Coatings, hard slabs and finish targets all change which cup wheel or disc makes sense.

How do I match grinder tooling to surface condition?

Tooling choice depends on what's on the surface and where you want to end up. Removing epoxy calls for aggressive segments; fine grinding before polish calls for a continuous rim or finer tooling.

Tell us

  • Surface condition — coatings, glue, paint, laitance, bare slab.
  • Concrete hardness if known.
  • Machine — hand grinder or floor grinder, and head size.
  • Finish target — prep for coating, grind-and-seal, or polish.

Have a question about your job?

Tell us a few things and a Blade Techs tech will explain what fits and why.

  • What are you working on?
  • What machine are you running?
  • What have you tried, and what happened?
